Fan Says Julius Randle Got Him Kicked Out of FTX Arena
A Knicks fan has claimed Julius Randle had him kicked out of Miami’s FTX Arena earlier this week for heckling the plummeting forward.
Earlier this month, Randle was fined $25,000 for saying a thumbs-down gesture was meant to say “shut up” to booed fans in Madison Square Garden.
A caller from WFAN’s “Carton & Roberts” who identified himself as Miami’s Dylan said he had “a horrible experience” in Wednesday’s road loss to the Heat.
The fan said he was sitting behind the visitor’s bench with his girlfriend when he stood up in the second quarter and shouted “Hey Randle, you’re getting an $118 million contract and that’s what i get?Fans got a thumbs down is what we get?The fan insisted on the call that he didn’t say “anything personal” or profane, but he received a warning after Randle reported it to arena security.
Later in the game, the fan said he also yelled at the Knicks forward that he was “minus-34” in the loss, and Randle again alerted security. The spectator was then ejected from the game by two uniformed police officers, according to a video posted on the WFAN Twitter account.
“His head wasn’t even in the game. He was just waiting for me to say the next thing,” the caller added of Randle.
Before Friday’s game in Milwaukee, Randle told reporters he still wanted to “be part” of a potential turnaround with the Knicks and “go all the way.” Randle’s scoring and shooting numbers are down significantly from last season, when he was named to the All-NBA Second Team after helping lead the Knicks to their first playoff spot since 2013.
