FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried Calls Dogecoin ($ DOGE) “Asset of the Year for 2020 and 2021”
Recently, Sam Bankman-Fried, co-founder and CEO of the FTX crypto exchange, spoke about retail investor interest in cryptocurrency based on Dogecoin memes ($ DOGE).
His comments on Dogecoin were made during an interview for an episode of The Jax Jones and Martin Warner Show.
According to a report per The Daily Hodl he said:
“If there is one asset of the year for 2020 and 2021, it would be Dogecoin. This is the asset that faithfully reflects our current economic climate. It is the asset that we have all chosen and that we deserve for better or for worse.
“I’m not saying this as an endorsement or an anti-endorsement. I’m not trying to take a position on this. I’m just saying that everything we’ve decided as a company over the past year has brought us closer and closer to the Dogecoin financial standard.“
He also spoke about the approval of Dogecoin by Tesla CEO Elon Musk:
“What did we do as a company that does, you know, when did we slide right on Dogecoin?
“There’s just been a ton of stuff and Elon, he’s actually powerful. He is currently the most influential man in the world when it comes to financial assets. His tweets move the markets. He chose Dogecoin, and no one was surprised.
“Everyone knew he would choose Dogecoin… and we chose Elon. We signed up for it. We signed up for some self-aware mockery for a certain amount, you know, a sense of humor and for a certain amount of tough standards and saying, “Okay, but seriously, maybe what makes your stuff better than Dogecoin? You know, no, really tell me that. Yeah, I realize it’s a meme. My question is still relevant.“
