EAST RIDGE, Tennessee (WDEF) – East Ridge Police make an arrest in a violent purse theft with a hard-to-miss description.

A woman reported on Friday night that a man dumped her as she left Tennessee Title Loans and Security Finance on Ringgold Road.

She says he fought her for her purse, leaving her with minor cuts and bruises.

He ran to a car and drove off.

The victim was able to give the police many detailed descriptions, khaki pants, black t-shirt, blue shoes.

But she was adamant that he also had purple dreads.

And of course there was a man with purple spikes on the surveillance camera.

One trick led investigators to Antwone Boykin’s Facebook profile (without the colored hair).

But when they checked the ID photo of Tennessee he had taken two weeks earlier, they found pinkish / purple tips.

As they drove past the house, they spotted the white Toyota car described by the victim, with the front fender missing.

Police said three Security Finance witnesses identified Boykin in a series of photos (black and white photos, no purple hair).

On Monday afternoon, they picked him up from his home and charged him with theft and assault.

When they took his photo ID, the hair had turned orange.
