Lake Cowichan Kraken takes to the ice in exhibition tournament – Cowichan Valley Citizen
The Lake Cowichan Kraken first played on the ice over the weekend of August 6-8 as they hosted the Showcase at the Lake tournament at Cowichan Lake Sports Arena.
It was the first chance for fans to see the expansion Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League in action. They were joined for the event by other Junior B teams, the Kerry Park Islanders, the Campbell River Storm and the Surrey Knights, among others.
Former Capitals star Luciano Wilson was back on the ice in the Cowichan Valley last weekend, but in unknown sons as he skated for one of the Kraken teams, playing alongside his brothers twins, forward Brendon and goalie Anthony, for the first time.
Wilson spent two productive seasons with the Caps, leading the team in scoring in 2019-20, before being traded to the Penticton Vees. He again led the Vees with 29 points in 20 games in the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season and plans to return for his 20-year season this fall.
