Line Blockchain and Bithumb said the deposit and withdrawal address for the cryptocurrency account will be released soon.
Link is a cryptocurrency issued by its branch of Sinpapore Line Tech Plus, using the ‘link chain’, a main blockchain network created by Line itself, where the actual transactions of the cryptocurrency will take place.
Since the cryptocurrency is to be listed on Bithumb, domestic investors will have better access, Line Blockchain said.
According to the company, the cryptocurrency transactions were made outside the country through Bitfront and Bitmex, global digital asset exchanges in the United States and Japan, respectively.
Domestic investors have had limited access to cryptocurrency as domestic credit card purchases have often been blocked by card companies, industry sources said. This is a precautionary measure under the Anti-Money Laundering Directive that prevents transactions with unknown parties, global trade.
Still, investors can’t buy Link directly with the Korean won, but must buy bitcoin and then use it to buy the cryptocurrency, the company said.
Meanwhile, Line announced in April that it would increase Link’s liquidity by adding more exchanges for transactions and securing more users. The company also outlined its plan to create non-fungible token platforms and add more decentralized applications, digital applications that run on a blockchain outside of the control of a single authority.
